Training system for work mechanisation
The pruning should be adapted to soil fertility. The "Royat cordon" is usually used to not having overproduction and that clusters are not stacked. But if you choose badly the buds that you leave when pruning, you will have stacks.
The "cordon de Royat" is particularly useful for mechanized vineyards.
Pruning of a young Chardonnay vine in double "cordon de Royat"The "cordon of Royat" requires skills to train young vines and for its annual pruning. It also requires an excellent trellis (the threads taut and straight rods) to lead and support the branches. Under these conditions it is a system of quality.
